Osman Dadi is a Research Associate in Regional Design at the Regional Plan Association's New York office. He is primarily involved in the RPA's Community Design and Centers program, devoted to lessening sprawl and focusing on revitalizing and strengthening existing centers through transit-oriented development and progressive planning.
He attended Rice University in Houston, Texas for six years from 2005 to 2011, attaining a Bachelor of Architecture in 2011 and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture in 2009. He was active in the Rice Building Workshop over several years, partaking as the lead shade structure architect in the ZeRow House competition for the US Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon in 2009, and a design-build café for the Menil Museum in Houston in 2011. Osman spent his fifth year working as an architect for ZGF Architects LLP in Los Angeles, California. He had the opportunity to be involved in several prominent projects over a twelve-month term, including a winning design competition for a new State of California San Jose Courthouse, construction administration for the multi-phase Children's Hospital of Los Angeles campus expansion, and core-and-shell schematic design and design development for the new University of Hawaii Cancer Research Center.
Growing up in central Maryland, Osman has also previously interned for the Montgomery County, Maryland Department of Transportation. He spent two years studying spatial development patterns around WMATA MetroRail stations in the county, assessing the long term results of the county's smart growth plans in channeling dense growth around transit nodes such as Bethesda and Silver Spring. He is an avid transportation enthusiast, and also enjoys map making, volleyball, and house music.
