Frank works on mapping and data analysis for most of RPA's projects and ongoing research. His interests include quantitative models for land use and carbon emissions, better communication and visualization, open source tools and open data practices.
Recent projects include development and land use change models for Long Island, central Connecticut and the Hudson Valley. Transportation and mobility studies include analysis and maps investigating the effect of rail service improvements on property values in New Jersey, goods movement on the I-278 corridor and opportunities for expanded ferry services in the region. As part of the 2009 ESTA campaign against transit cuts, Frank produced interactive maps detailing services cuts by neighborhood. He maintains RPA's extensive library of regional and national mapping information.
Frank joined RPA in September 2008, after receiving a Masters in City Planning from MIT, where he was awarded the American Institute of Certified Planners Outstanding Student Award.
