Fiona Zhu is Associate Planner and GIS (Geographic Information System) Specialist at RPA. She maintains and updates RPA's GIS resources and provides technical assistance to all RPA offices and external requests. She works with research staff across different divisions at RPA with strengths in bulk data analysis, spatial analysis and mapping. Her work focuses on how to reveal trends, projections and stories from demographic, economic, and transportation data and present them both statistically and geographically.

Some of Ms. Zhu's current and recent past work includes: mapping and comparing transit systems among international cities across the world; affordable housing inventories in New York City neighborhoods and on Long Island, which study structure, supply, and demand of affordable housing based on demographic and economic data and make policy recommendations; build-out analysis of City of Bridgeport, Connecticut, which quantitatively evaluates local zoning's indications on future growth capacity and provides alternative development scenarios facilitating infill and transit-oriented development; an interactive map of Connecticut's population and housing trends using Census data; Northeast Landscapes, for which she conducted landscape mapping and future urban growth projections in the Northeast megaregion.

Ms. Zhu received a Master's degree in City and Urban Planning from University or Pennsylvania, where she also completed her Certificate in GIS and Spatial Analysis as the only recipient of the Certificate in her year.
