  • Brian Dennis is a Research Associate with the Regional Plan Association's New York City Office. He is assigned to the Sustainable Communities Initiative, which is a Regional Planning Grant administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Sustainable Communities Program promotes affordable housing, economic development, transportation and environmental planning initiatives that encourage livable communities.

Brian is an advocate of socially and environmentally healthy neighborhoods. While in college, he participated in a planning work shop based in Catania, Sicily in which he collaborated with urban planning students from the University of Catania to help articulate local residents' visions for a more sustainable neighborhood. Additionally Brian's graduate thesis focused on the incidence of squatting or land capturing in the capital of Kingston Jamaica, West Indies. His research entailed the use of qualitative methods to understand the social and physical dynamics of where informal residents call home.

Brian attained both his undergraduate degree and a graduate degree in Regional Planning from Cornell University.
