Riis Park |

Riis Park and Fort Tilden, located on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens, have the potential to be extraordinary places: Atlantic beach sand and surf coupled with historic structures and a diversity of recreational facilities and cultural programming. But, as with all of the National Park Service's holdings in New York, funding for capital improvements and management in these parks has been difficult to obtain.
To address these needs, Regional Plan Association prepared "A Beach and Much More," its report to the National Park Service on proposed improvements to Riis Park, Fort Tilden and Riis Landing. The report calls for physical renovations, increased ferry access and new development to ensure that the region's residents can fully enjoy a unique natural resource.
