Inventory

The following inventory is an initial compilation of public and private initiatives that seek to conserve landscapes and landscape processes across political jurisdictions in the northeast. These initiatives have been created to meet one or more objectives: Habitat protection; water resource management; agricultural and forest production; and open space, cultural and recreational resource promotion.

These landscape conservation initiatives can also be generally characterized as:

  • Crossing political jurisdictions;
  • Having multiple objectives and/or outcomes;
  • Deploying conservation tools at a relevant geographic scale and time horizon;
  • Covering geographically contiguous areas;
  • Being accountable;
  • Making progress toward measurable outcomes.

This inventory of landscape conservation initiatives will serve as the basis for an assessment of how these diverse efforts relate to habitat protection, other natural resource goals, and infrastructure and land use plans.
Information has been collected for each of the identified initiatives and can be seen in the initiative profiles by clicking on the "List Initiatives" tab above.

You can browse the summary entries by using the keyword search or by selecting distinguishing criteria to your right and then clicking on the "List Initiatives" or Map Initiatives" tabs above. In this way, the results can be viewed as a list or plotted by center point on a map of the northeast.
