Long Island Sound Map Panel Index

These maps present information collected for the Public Access/Open Space Inventory (v.1) produced by RPA and the Ecological/Scientific Inventory (v.1) produced by the US Fish and Wildlife service Coastal Program. These inventories were developed for the Long Island Sound Stewardship Initiative as part of the larger Long Island Sound Study. For more information on LISS http://www.longislandsoundstudy.net/index.htm.

The Public Access/Open Space Inventory maps include information about public access to the water, water resource protection, recreational need, and other open space opportunities. Circled areas are not the result of a ranking process; they represent areas that stakeholders groups determined were most important after reviewing draft public access/open space inventory maps.  Further evaluation of circled areas is needed.

The Ecological/Scientific Inventory contains information on fish and wildlife habitats, important wildlife use areas, and areas of scientific-research importance. The ecological polygons developed by the technical work groups, shown on the Sound-wide map, represent important areas recommended for further consideration and ARE NOT the result of any ranking process.

These maps represent inventories ONLY; information from these inventories will be assessed to identify potential priority areas.
