The Fourth Regional Plan is a physical plan that explains how our built and natural environments must be designed to address a set of unprecedented challenges in the new century: sea levels may rise as much as six feet by mid century changing our coastline forever; new forms of mobility, such as self-driving vehicles, will change the way we think about streets; infrastructure investments such as new rail lines will need to not only link destinations but create new open spaces and  mixed-use live/work neighborhoods. This panel will explore the ways that architecture, landscape architecture and urban design can address these challenges and the role of design at the regional scale.
