RPA's Connecticut office asks for housing near jobs, transit.

Amanda Kennedy of RPA's Connecticut office submitted comments this week on the State's draft Long-Range Housing Plan and draft Housing Needs Assessment and Market Analysis, which project the need for housing over the next twenty years and govern the use of state funds for affordable housing programs.

The comments principally call for a revision of housing needs projections to quantify housing needs by household size, and more refined locational criteria that will produce housing near jobs, transit, and services. With the right information and policies, the State's housing programs can meet housing needs while increasing economic opportunities for families and attracting or retaining young college graduates.
