Regional Plan Association marks with great sadness the passing of board member Richard Kaplan. Richard served on RPA’s board from 2001 to 2014, and during that time he left an indelible mark on the Association. His enthusiasm, wit, creativity, support, irreverence, honesty, perseverance and generosity shaped the organization for more than a decade.
"Richard will be remembered for his keen sense of design, his infections enthusiasm for the work of our organization and his kidness of spirit," said RPA's Chairman Emeritus Peter Herman.
"Whether he was advocating the rebuilding of Lower Manhattan after 9/11 or helping launch America 2050, Richard was always the first funder, the strongest promoter, the emotional core and the brilliant convener," said RPA President Tom Wright. "He had a smile as big as the city he loved, and he left a mark on everyone who had the great fortune to cross his path."
