A new report by RPA for the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties' Research Foundation identifies the logistics trends and specific industries that will drive warehouse and distribution growth and demand for space over the next decade.

This research shows that warehouse and distribution buildings averaged about 2,000 square feet by employee over the last decade, and that about 300 Million Square feet a year of space was built since 1990 - pointing towards a trend of natural replacement of the inventory. These trends taken together, and a projected 700 Million Square feet of new space based of employment growth, suggests a need between 3.5 to 4 Billion Square feet of logistics space over the next decade.
