New Zoning in Newark, Made [Reasonably] User-Friendly

In one of his last acts as mayor of the City of Newark, Cory A. Booker has released draft revised zoning & land use regulations for public comment. RPA has worked closely with the city to make the new zoning and regulations more user-friendly, producing neighborhood zoning maps and descriptions aimed at non-zoning experts.

The revised zoning and land-use regulations are the culmination of a multiyear effort that began in the early days of Mayor Booker’s tenure, when he asked RPA to help develop a comprehensive vision for the city’s future. The resulting Vision Plan laid the groundwork for many of the city's subsequent achievements in economic development, housing and sustainability, and also set the stage for the city’s ambitious, long-range master plan, adopted in 2012.
