New York State Agrees to Cut Toll for Verrazano Bridge

Last year, according to the governor’s office, tolls were paid for 13.3 million Staten Island cars and 2.1 million trucks. “The truth of the matter is, there’s really no money for this,” said Richard Barone, director of transportation programs at the Regional Plan Association, a research and advocacy group. He said that the amount was a small piece of the authority’s budget, but that “it just means they’re kind of putting themselves further in the hole.”
