New York Area Life Expectancy, Health Disparities Increase

"Life expectancy in the New York region now exceeds that of the United States as a whole, but health disparities continue to increase, a report from the Regional Plan Association released Monday found. The report attributed longer life expectancies since 1990 and deepening disparities in part to urban planning decisions made years ago. 'Urban policymakers have, for decades, been doing health policy work without acknowledging it,' Mandu Sen, a senior planner with RPA, said when she presented the findings Monday."
