Letter: Javits Center Bus Terminal Has Merits

Before rejecting it out of hand, The Record should examine Regional Plan Association’s proposal to build a second bus terminal under the Javits Convention Center and renovate the existing Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Instead of subjecting commuters to years of delays and disruptions, only to give them a slightly better system than they have today, RPA’s proposal would bring relief to suffering commuters much more quickly and painlessly; double the number of Manhattan destinations that could be reached by a one-seat ride (including direct access to the Hudson Yards and Manhattan’s east side); and provide the same capacity for growth.

Two terminals are better, and faster, than one – for New Jersey commuters as well as those in New York.
