Former Governors Ask LG Electronics to Build Lower Tower in Palisades

Four former New Jersey governors have asked LG Electronics not to erect a high-rise tower over the tree line on the Palisades cliffs. The former governors -- James Florio, Brendan Byrne, Thomas Kean and Christine Todd Whitma -- joined with a coalition of environmental and civic groups who have called on LG to lower the height of their planned 143-foot headquarters building in Englewood Cliffs, N.J.

Regional Plan Association is among the organizations seeking to protect the Palisades, one of the tri-state region's most unique and treasured natural landscapes. RPA was involved in the initial effort to preserve the Palisades in the 1920s and 1930s, and over many decades the organization has helped established guidelines for development and conservation in the area. RPA has recommended a balanced approach in the area that enables healthy economic development in a way that respects more than a century’s worth of efforts to preserve the Palisades.
