"However, it’s still undetermined, at least I’m not aware, how much additional capacity the ‘open-gangway’ cars will provide,” said Richard Barone, the Regional Plan Association's vice president for transportation. He said he’s heard "it can increase capacity anywhere from 3 percent to up to 8 percent,” depending on the design.
