| Sharath Vallabhajosyula is an Associate Planner for America 2050. He joined RPA in 2007 as a Research Assistant on America 2050. Previously Sharath was an intern in Public Affairs.
Sharath was part of a student consulting group for Port Authority of New York and New Jersey where he and his team successfully prioritized PANYNJ's $2 billion investment in Trans Hudson Express tunnel. He was also part of second student consulting group for NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development. He and his team members developed successful service-enriched housing strategies for HPD's housing stock as part of Mayor Bloomberg's commitment to providing affordable housing in the city.
As a Student Assistant in the planning unit of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC), Sharath helped administer and drafted recommendation reports on walkable community, safe routes to school, and parking management workshops throughout the NYMTC region. In addition, he reviewed SAFETEA-LU regulations and allocations, specifically trying to identify potential sources of funding for future NYMTC initiatives. He also researched and analyzed funding sources for potential clean technologies with regards lowering diesel emissions.
As a consultant to RPA, Sharath's thesis analyzed the feasibility of bringing the Metro-North Railroad (MNR) to the West Side of Manhattan. Specifically, his recommendations were directed towards RPA's role in making the project more effective and providing MNR with a strategy to regain momentum. As an intern at RPA during summer 2006, Sharath produced a catalogue of major development projects in the NY metropolitan region.
He received a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Public Administration from State University of New York at Albany, and completed his Masters of Science in Urban Policy Analysis and Management from Milano, The New School for Management and Urban Policy.
