Richard Barone, a Senior Planner specializing in transportation, is focused upon the utilization of emerging technologies to improve upon existing and future transportation systems. Prior to joining the RPA, Richard was one of four 2006-2007 recipients of the September 11th Memorial Program for Regional Transportation Planning. He was assigned to the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC), working with the Technical Group on a regional transportation data management project. During his tenure at NYMTC he worked on a number of initiatives, gaining exposure to the MPO process and the regional Best Practice Model. His experience working in the information technology field has provided him with an extensive background in systems, applications and project management.
Richard received his Master of Science in Urban Planning from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Labor and Industrial Relations from the Pennsylvania State University. His Master’s Thesis examined the current technological changes underway in the NYC Subway system, particularly the upgrading of the signaling system to Communications Based Train Control. |
