RPA has examined a number of transportation issues on Long Island and issued a report, Four Transit Issues on Long Island: A report by the Regional Plan Association to the Rauch Foundation.
The report discusses RPA's objections to the conclusions reached the by
the New York State Department of Transportation report known as LITP
2000. It also advocates for stable funding to expand local bus
services, and for a third-track on a critical section of the Long
Island Rail Road. Finally, it proposes a realistic approach to
incorporating land use considerations that would make transit work more
effectively on Long Island.
