November 1, 2005: Today the Civic Alliance joined the American Planning
Association NY Chapter, New York New Visions and the Labor Community
Advocacy Network in issuing a statement on the current disarray in the
Lower Manhattan planning process. The statement calls on the City of
New York to take a greater role in the planning process, and calls on
the Port Authority to revisit the WTC program and lease agreement with
Larry Silverstein. In light of the string of recent setbacks that have
plagued the rebuilding of Ground Zero, the time is right for an honest
reassessment of the development program, the financing, and the
ownership/ lease arrangements that are misguiding the development
process.
